Jamal began his career as an IT Administrator at CA Technologies before co-founding a technology startup in NY focusing on the independent restaurant industry. He created the initial infrastructure and software stack, which now powers thousands of websites across North America. He began contributing to Lightning Network open source projects in 2018, attended the Chaincode Residency in the summer of 2019, and then created the Lightning Polar developer tool. Today, his focus is on improving the user experience for individuals using and developing Bitcoin and Lightning technologies.
Intro to the Lightning Network
The Lightning Network is an off-chain, routed payment channel network built on top of the Bitcoin blockchain. The network consists of nodes connected by peer-to-peer channels allowing low-cost, near-instant payments to route across the network via connected nodes. This workshop will walk through the basics of Lightning and build out a small web application utilizing the technology.
