Abstract:

Data integrity and uptime are key capabilities when you’re a Fintech company. To support significant increases in demand we needed to make the jump to a more capable hosted database solution while moving from MySQL to PostgreSQL. This is the story of how we migrated over 150 databases from MySQL to PostgreSQL with minimal downtime and complete data validation.

Steve Smith is a Senior Site Reliability Engineer at Moov with over 20 years of experience in systems administration and software engineering. He specializes in Infrastructure as Code (IaC), network engineering, databases, public cloud platforms, and building resilient systems that keep critical applications running smoothly.

When not managing digital infrastructure, he raises yaks, ducks, and rabbits on Colorado’s western slope.
